Your Mama Loves Jasmine Hair Oil from Oscar Blandi

I don’t usually use hair oil, since my hair is so short. But I got a sample of Oscar Blandi Olio Di Jasmine Shine Spray through my Birchbox.com subscription (which, by the way, so awesome) and I’m already addicted to it. I LOVE THE AROMA OF JASMINE. It’s floral and sensual and so lovely. The spray is a little too heavy for me, so I’m sticking with the Jasmine Oil Serum.

I have to use a TINY bit of it since my hair is short, but just a smidge makes my hair all soft and shiny and awesome and it smells good. I don’t usually end up buying full sizes after I get samples, but I had to get this one. I was immediately sold. If you have flyaways, frizz, or you just like your hair to smell sweet and lovely, I highly recommend this stuff.

Your Mama Wants to Breathe Right

Apparently allergy season is already gearing up.  Sigh! For me, that means a stuffy nose and lots of sneezing.  No one in my house snores, so we hadn’t tried Breathe Right Strips until they contacted me offering to let me try them out.  I had no idea you could just them just to deal with colds.  (I thought they were only for hockey players and snoring.)

The new strips are supposed to be more efficient at opening your nasal passages, allowing you to sleep better at night.  Breathe Right says:

Its 4-point technology works on key touch points to open your nose more completely, and the special adhesive system holds the strip comfortably in place.

I’m a fan of anything meant to help with nasal congestion.  Very few things make me as cranky as not being able to inhale through my nose.

The sensation of having something stuck to your nose is a little weird at first, but I’ve done Biore pore strips since I was in high school so I’m not that freaked out by it.  If you want to try before you by, the Breathe Right website is advertising free samples.

Your Mama Loves Fresh Coffee

This Christmas, I received the gift of awesome coffee thanks to a new coffee grinder.  I’d always been sort of scared to try one, but it turns out it’s painfully simple.

Here’s how I make my awesome coffee go:

  • I have the Capresso Cool Grind, available at our affiliate Amazon.com for under $20.   This was a Christmas gift, and I’m thrilled about it!  Super easy to use, quiet, and efficient.
  • I heat water with the Cuisinart CPK-17 PerfecTemp. I receieved this badass water kettle at a private event at BlogHer last year. It’s been my kitchen BFF ever since. I use it for tea, and it’s especially great for making French press coffee, since it has a specific setting for that. I LOVE THIS THING SO MUCH, THERE ARE NO WORDS.  You can find plenty of electric water heaters for cheaper, but this one is a must if you’re a tea snob.  Pick it up at Amazon.com for around $85.
  • I use a small one-cup French press.  The Bodum Brazil says three cup, but it actually just makes one normal mug of coffee. I got mine at Target, but you can order at Amazon.com for around $16.

The whole routine takes me about five minutes (most of which is spent waiting for the coffee to brew.)  The taste is incredible.  Right now I’ve been enjoying Counter Culture beans that I received as a Christmas gift.  Now that I’m turning into a coffee snob, I’ll never go back.
