Earlier this spring, my eyes exploded. (Okay, not really, but it felt like it.) They constantly watered and burned. My eyelids swelled. It was GROSS. It took a month of wearing glasses and using all sorts of medicated drops to get my eyes back to normal and my contacts back in. When I headed to my eye doctor for an uncomfortable exam, he told me that he uses a solution called Clear Care. He added that his wife and two children also use it. (His kids wear contacts at a far earlier age than I did.)
I immediately picked this stuff up. For the previous two year, I’d been spending money tracking down perservative-free saline to rinse my lenses. I have a mild allergy to all sorts of normal contact lens solution so normally I have to rinse the crap out of them OR ELSE experience crazy annoying burning and redness.
He assured me that with Clear Care, I’d be able to pop them right into my eyes with no rinsing. I wasn’t too optimistic, but it turns out the guy was right. And for that I am ETERNALLY GRATEFUL.
Clear Care takes slightly more energy than normal solution, but I think it’s kind of fun. You stick each lens in a little case, fill the case with the solution, and leave it in there overnight or for at least six hours. The normally burny solution magically turns into happy saline. Do not ask me how this works. All I know is that in the morning, I stick my contacts in and they don’t burn anymore. I can’t tell you what sort of epic relief this has been.
So, I can’t recommend this stuff enough if you wear contacts. I use it with Acuvue soft lenses. (In case you were wondering.) You can pick it up at our affiliate, Amazon.com. I’ve also found it in most pharmacies and at Target.
