We’ve been doing a lot of traveling lately, and until recently, the “free” $13 umbrella stroller that came with a car-seat purchase has been our travel stroller.
Every time we take that stroller out, we curse it’s lack of, well, anything. Nowhere to put stuff, no cup holder, no shade, no way to lay down. Piper can crawl right out of the lap strap. The wheels often just slide, rather than roll, over rough terrain. Add to the list the fact that we have to hunch over at a 30-degree angle to push the thing, and you’ll see why I finally gave up.
I did a little research and found The First Years Ignite Stroller
I am in love with this stroller because:
- It has an easily removable, collapsable sun canopy.
- It has a storage basket for our junk.
- It has a cup holder and zippered carrying pouch for her junk, even a few little pockets for her fallen barrettes or snacks.
- Five point harness. For the wiggly little monkey.
- Knobby wheels that roll easily over everything.
- Comfortable ergonomic handles that are tall enough for us to push without a backache.
- Nice light, neutral khaki color is good for hot Florida sun.
- It reclines enough for her to nap without her head bobbing forward.
- It was (relatively) cheap!
- It folds up pretty small and is light – great for travel and keeping in the trunk.

I wish I had known about this last summer, when we did a lot of traveling… with our giant travel system stroller.
But now we’re expecting baby #2 and looking for good double strollers instead (ones that can handle a 3-year-old and a 1-year-old together).
I really liked the plain ol’ Sit N Stand for that. Check craigslist! Most people don’t use them for too long.
