Your Mama Loves SingStar Karaoke Video Games

Confession:  I love karaoke.  I love to sing.

I have a really goofy, not good voice.

You don’t need a karaoke machine to have some kick ass karaoke fun at home.  All you need is a gaming system and a karaoke game like SingStar.  (We have the PS2 versions of this game.) If you’re throwing a party or having a few friends over, it’s hard to match the instant fun of SingStar’s multiplayer mode.  Basically you form two teams (teams of two or more) and battle it out one one doing randomly chosen songs and medleys.

Each SingStar game has a theme.  We have Pop, Pop 2, 80′s, 90′s, Legends and Amped.  (We bought these ourselves with our own monies.)

The song choices are awesome.  Just keep in mind that you can’t download extra songs off the Internet like you can with RockBand or Guitar Hero.  I prefer this game because of the battle mode, which has seriously inspired some amazing get-togethers at our house.

We don’t have a PS3 so we can’t play SingStar ABBA but MAN, I wish we did.

I prefer some of the songs on the Karaoke Revolution games (they have a Glee karaoke game coming out!) but I prefer the multi-player battle mode that SingStar has.  There’s just something addicting about fostering some playful sing-off competitions.  Especially with songs like Tricky and Ice Ice Baby.  Too cold, too cold.

UPDATE: My wiser-about-electronics husband says that if you have  PS3, you can download new songs.  Also, they do have ABBA for PS2.  Oooooo, man.  I’m in trouble.

All links in this post are amazon.com affliate links.  If you buy SingStar, I get like 50 cents.  True story.
