Last month, Sprig Toys sent me a Dino Adventure Rig to test out. I’d heard a lot about Sprig Toys, particularly the “sprigwood” they’re made of. Since I’m generally crappy about being green when it comes to my kids’ toys, I really wanted to get the scoop on Sprig.
The box itself was easy to open. (BONUS.) It also included fun cutouts of dinosaur eggs and other make-believe items to encourage kids to make the most of the packaging. If that sounds like hippy BS to you, think again. My three-year-old anxiously waited for me to cut out every freakin’ egg so that he could pack them up into the Dino Adventure Rig with the baby dino.
The set comes with a rugged truck, a mama and baby dino (they’re cute, not scary), and a faceless dude called Rex Jungle. He comes with an Indiana Jones-esque hat and backpack. The toys themselves are sturdy and have an interesting wood-like texture and smell.
While the playset is for ages 3+, my toddler has also enjoyed rolling the rig around. (With supervision.) I love that Rex Jungle has no face. My son really rolled with the whole imaginative play aspect without needing a whole backstory and character. He’s generally enjoyed the mama and baby dinosaurs the most when playing with the set.
At around $25 on our affiliate, Amazon.com, this is slightly pricier than some truck sets you might find at a big box toystore. However, I think the design, earth-friendly materials and quality make it worth the extra five bucks or so. I plan on getting more Sprig Toys for my son for his birthday this April.

I’ve seen the dino rig before, but I didn’t know they had all these other play-sets. I don’t know which I love most, the story builders or the sprig hollow. Maybe I’ll get the scuba search after all.
