Landlines still exist? Seriously?
That’s what I hear when I talk about my landline. Ours is practically free with our TV and Internet, and because we moved and my husband still works in a different city, we both have “long distance” area codes on our cell phones. Even with Google Voice making things easier, it just makes sense to have a landline I can give my son’s school or my landlords who refuse to call long distance.
Last week it also came in handy when my cell phone dropped a business conference call six times. I picked up my landline and enjoyed an uninterrupted call for the rest of the duration.
And? It sounded beautiful thanks to the first new cordless phone we’ve used since 2001. (I’m not even joking that our old phone was that old.) Vtech send me a LS6245 cordless phone system to test out as part of their Valentine’s Day promotions. A phone for Valentine’s Day? That sounded a little farfetched to me until I totally fell in love with this phone.
Dude, you can listen to your messages from the handset. Also? You can make and receive cell calls from the handset. It has about a million other features so I’ll let you check them out for yourself at Vtechphones.com.
For me, the best part was the range. Our boys aren’t old enough for phone time yet, so we don’t have need for the ability for the base to use oodles of handsets. For me, the important thing is being able to run across the house to wipe a butt or stop a wrestling match without the line becoming static-filled and impossible to hear.
Let me illustrate:
Due to some lapse in judgment, the only phone jack in our entire house is in the closet-sized office attached to the garage-turned-addition. So yeah. Nowhere near where I’m usually at the rest of the day. And since we’re renting, I can’t do anything about it.
Except for use an awesome phone, apparently.

Also love the LS6225-3. I also have the same problem. I can’t go upstairs when I’m on the phone which means my upstairs is always a mess.
The Hearing Aid Compatible phone would be awesome for my dad as he wears a hearing aide and always has issues with phones!

Expandable five handset cordless phone system with digital answering device and caller ID plus three CS6209 accessory handsets. I like this one because it can accomodate multiple handsets. We have three stories and four people and the phone is never where I can answer it before it goes to voicemail. Then it gets left off the hook and goes dead! This phone is nice because the voicemail can be listened to from each handset. Very cool.

I think the LS6215-2 phone would work well for us–it comes with 2 handsets, but is expandable if decided to add some in other rooms. The base set is a very reasonable price.
I like that the answering system is digital–I really dislike having to hunt for the tapes to replace on my current answering system.

The phone that appeals to me is the LS5145 because you can customize ringtones using your pc and it’s bluetooth and even has a color display. I can’t believe how far along landline phones have come!
In addition to the LS6245, we also like the LS5145 cordless phone and answering system. I like that both the handset and base display the name and number of the last 100 callers. Thank you for the chance to win.

because I , too, hate to chase down a ringing phone and to have several spread throughout the house would be so much nicer.

I like the LS5145 + Five LS5105 because it is bluetooth capable for cell phones and has 5 handsets!
It can use up to 12 handsets with just one plugged into the phone jack! This would be very handy to work with Majic Jack.

I love the LS5145 + Five LS5105 as there is a phone for every room!
I like the DS6321-3. It doesn’t take but a couple of phones for us. The ones I have now are dead if left off the base. Almost useless and not functional.
My current VTech phone is not quite as old as yours, but I’ve had it since at least 2003. The battery is starting to have trouble re-charging now. Not all the time, just occasionally. I really like the DS6322-4 because it operates four handsets from one phone jack, and it also functions as an intercom system.

I like the DS 6221 becaause it has all the features I need, expandable, caller ID and answering system.
With a household of 8 (including 3 teens who seem to host their own daily talk show over the telephone), the LS5145 + five multi-handset system would be perfect for my family!

Sadly, our current cordless phones are dying.
I really like the looks of this model: CS6229-5 + 3 CS6209. I think the fact that it has multiple handset options would make our lives so much easier. Phones can be where we need them instead of where the phone jacks are.
