Your Mama Loves Robeez

When it came to learning to walk, both my sons struggled to walk with traditional shoes on. My pediatrician recommend (both times) that we try a soft-soled shoe. I bought a Target brand soft-soled shoe and found that they cut into the back of my son’s ankles. After that I went ahead and tried Robeez, a brand that the moms at my weekly mom’s group recommended.

robeez_sandalI ended up picking up some little black and white wingtips and a pair with pirates on them. My first son wore them for about ten months. When he grew out of the tiny ones, we got one more pair in a brown sandal style. By the time he was almost two, he could walk in regular sneakers, but I still used the Robeez for going to the mall or grocery shopping or anywhere he wouldn’t land on super rough terrain. I found that the Robeez were extremely easy to get on and off. They were also surprisingly durable.

How durable? More than two years after purchasing the first two pairs, my second son is now wearing the the same shoes. In fact, he’s still wearing them after I accidentally left them in the back yard for a week. Thanks to the supple leather and how well-crafted they are, I just had to roll them around and spot clean them to get them back to their normal softness.

My younger son recently wore his Robeez all over Walt Disney World with no problem.

They’re pricier than the knockoffs, but absolutely worth it in my experience. The shoes molded easily to my sons’ feet (and re-molded as hand-me-downs.) They look adorable with clothes, and most importantly, they allow babies to grip with their toes as they’re learning to walk.

I’ve used my Robeez indoors and outdoors with no problem. But I wouldn’t recommend them for mud or anywhere you anticipate your baby walking over sharp objects. (Actually I wouldn’t recommend letting your baby walk over sharp objects at all.)

robeez_vdayIf I had an endless stream of cash, I’d totally end up with like 10 pairs of them, because the designs are REALLY cute. (They also make me wish I had little girls to dress up.) Check out the Valentine’s Day heart prints and the patriotic print booties for the upcoming Olympics. SO CUTE.

They’ve got a bunch of Robeez on sale right now.  They’re also available from our affiliate, Amazon.com.  (I’ve also seen them pop up on a few one-sale-a-day sites lately.)
