Your Mama Likes the Bravado Alllure Underwire Nursing Bra

Bravado Allure underwire nursing bra reviewI’ve written about my love for Bravado bras on this site before. For this review, Bravado sent me one of their new designs – the Allure underwire nursing bra.

Allure. Sounds sexy, huh? Well, it kind of is. This bra actually reminds me of one of my sexy pre-pregnancy numbers. In fact, assuming my boobs don’t deflate into withered raisins after I stop nursing, I’ll keep this bra in rotation.

What’s different about Bravado’s Allure bra is that it’s an underwire nursing bra that was designed with breast health in mind, using input from lactation consultants. Important elements such as breathable stretchy fabric and a round wire slightly shorter than the cup (to avoid pinching) make this underwire comfortable for nursing moms.
Pros

  • Sexy. Really. The lacy sides and flash of lace in between the cups made me feel less like a lactating mother and more like a feminine sex pot. My husband agreed. Ahem.
  • Comfy, stretchy fabric intended to support the changing size of your breasts before and after nursing.
  • Bravado’s excellent service and quality. This sucker’s not going to give out any time soon. When I selected the wrong size at first, my contact at Bravado instructed me exactly how to measure myself and promptly replaced my bra with the right size.
  • Available in sizes B – G. Yes, G.

Cons

  • I found that when my breasts were full, the bra cups fit well, but after a nursing session, the stretch fabric would be too loose and the folds showed under fabric. (This was the main reason I didn’t “love” this bra.) I think if you’re fuller breasted, this won’t be such an issue.
  • The cups are lightly lined, but not quite enough to hide the ever-alert nursing nipples.
  • It’s a pricey bra at $54. However, as I mentioned in my review of the Bravado Bodysilk bra, I’ve found that I’ve wasted way more than that on crappy nursing bras.

Captain Obvious Reminder: This IS an underwire bra. Some women get clogged ducts or other nursing issues by wearing underwire bras. Personally, I would not have used an underwire nursing bra for the first 6 or 8 months. I’ve been nursing over a year and I feel pretty comfortable wearing a bra with an underwire now. They make my boobs look a LOT better, too.
