A few months ago I won some Intensity Academy gourmet sauces at a local woman’s networking meeting. That week, I tried out the Chai Chipotle Chup and Chai Thai Teriyaki I’d won. I’m not super big on sauces in general, but these totally wowed me. I made a steamed (en papillote) tilapia and marinated the fish in the Chai Thai Teriyaki and then splashed a bit more on after cooking. The fish turned out AMAZING. Slightly spicy, very flavorful. Love it.
We use the Chup, which is basically a tangy ketchup, on everything. Fries, chicken, shrimp. It’s versatile and has a really flavorful edge to it. Nothing like regular ketchup.
Last week I purchased the carrot-based Hot2 (Squared) hotsauce. I used it to spice up some grocery store salsa. HOLY CRAP PEOPLE. It’s vaguely sweet, very tasty, and super duper spicy. I’m kind of a hot sauce freak and it takes a lot to impress me. This stuff is GOOD.
I’m all about sharing these saucy finds with you because they’re:
- all natural
- reasonably priced
- created by a local mom of triplets
Michele Northrup is an absolute sweetheart. She began making her sauces at home in her kitchen, and has grown her business all on her own. She uses social media in a smart, fun way. And she’s been winning awards like crazy. Check out her business blog here to see her on the news.
If you’re looking for last minute gourmet gifts and stocking stuffers, I recommend trying these sauces. I ended up buying some for my in-laws and parents, and totally kept the Hot2 carrot sauce for myself. We’ve gone through three bottles of the Chup and three of the Chai Thai Teriyaki in the past four months. The stuff rules.

One of my favorite “secret” sauces is called Lizano. A friend first brought it back from Costa Rica for me and I love the stuff. Not super spicy, but full of flavor. I put it on everything from rice and beans to chicken, fish and pork. I have seen it once or twice in little specialty shops, but never in regular grocery stores.
The Chai Thai Teriyaki sauce looks yummy!! Thanks!
