After using the same Motorola PEBL (may it rest in peace) for over four years, I recently invested in a refurbished iPhone when we switched cell carriers. At $50, it cost me significantly less than my previous phone. Bonus!
I immediately knew that I needed to protect it. Not only do I have a tendency to drop/throw my cell phone like once a week, I also have a three-year-old who likes to mess with things to make me crazy.
I’d heard that OtterBox made great iPhone cases, and when they sent me a Commuter TL case (for free) to review, I was not disappointed. I chose one in the lime green shade. (It’s kind of my thing.) My husband also bought the Defender case (with his own money.)
I have to say, I prefer my case. It’s very slim, the screen protected fits seamlessly against the phone, and I can still reach all the necessary buttons. The back is hard plastic and the sides are a bit rubbery. It’s perfect for the additional grip I need to keep from tossing my phone.
My husband’s case is kind of huge, but he has huge hands and needs a clip to work out with it, so it works for him. He purchased a white case, which makes it look a little like a Stormtrooper’s iPhone.
I’ve dropped my phone a few times already, and the case seems to offer some protection. I also had some sand get on the phone, and the case kept the sand out of the workings of the phone. The protecting cover also keeps my greasy, babyfood-covered fingers from screwing up the screen.
It was very easy to install, and it fits the phone like a glove. I definitely recommend the OtterBox. At under $30, the Commuter case is worth the extra protection for your phone. If you’re looking into an OtterBox, be sure to read all the specs so you can evaluate which is appropriate for your phone and lifestyle.
