A few weeks ago, I saw someone mentioning Dapple Baby on Twitter. We’re big fans of safe and green products here at Your Mama Reviews, so I poked them for a sample to try out and they sent me a travel size of Dapple Baby’s natural dish detergent and toy cleaning wipes.
The theory behind Dapple Baby is that conventional dish soaps and cleaners are full of fragrance and nasty chemicals that leave residue on the items babies stick in their mouths. (Bottles, pacifiers, cups, toys, etc.) I feel like I have to rinse my baby dishes for like fifteen minutes to get the detergent smell off them. So the Dapple Baby mission makes sense to me.
But does it work?
Totally, from what I can tell! I use Seventh Generation dish liquid usually. To me, it seems pretty similar. But Dapple is formulated with enzymes that help break down milk. Pretty cool.
The packaging is adorable. That doesn’t make it work any better, but it pleases my design sensibilities.
I also like that the dish liquid comes in a travel size. When you’re hitting the road with kids, you’re often stuck using the cleaners that your hotels/hosts use. No one wants to lug around a giant bottle of dish wash. Yay travel sizes!
My favorite of the two items was definitely the toy wipes. I’ve kept them in my diaper bag for times when my son’s toys hit the floor at the mall or a restaurant. They really wipe things clean, but they’re not antibacterial. Believe it or not, this is a good thing! Unless you’ve managed to get poop or something otherwise noxious on your kid’s toys, they really don’t need strong antibacterial agents on their toys. A few germs do the body good.
Both Dapple Baby products I tried had a nice, pleasing lavender smell. They use essential oils in their products to scent them. Essential oils are far better for you than fragrances, which are basically just chemicals. (I study Aromatherapy, can you tell?)
If you have little ones at home, Dapple Baby products are worth picking up. I’m looking forward to trying the dishwasher powder when I can find it in stock.
You can find Dapple Baby products by running a handy product search on their website or online at our affiliate, Amazon.com
