Your Mama Loves Reusable Snack Bags

You may have noticed that we have a bit of a ‘green’ slant here at Your Mama.  We cloth diaper.  We like healthy, chemical free products.  And we love reusable things that replace throw-away options.

At my house, we take it a little farther.  We recycle (even though the city makes it very difficult and we have to drive our recyclables across town).  I use reusable shopping bags (who doesn’t?), and I keep reusable produce bags in my car too.  And now, I also use ReSnackit reusable snack and sandwich bags.

ReSnackit bags were invented by a mom who was sick of spending money on throw-away sandwich bags for her kids’ lunches.  She saw how many plastic baggies were going into the trash with every passing lunch hour (approximately 20 million plastic baggies are thrown away every week in US schools!) and decided to create a better solution.

The ReSnackits come in an adorable array of blisteringly cute fabrics, and are lined with a waterproof inside so you can use them for veggies, cheese, sandwiches or crunchy snacks like crackers. They fold up a few times at the top to create a pretty tight seal (which never leaked for me), and are easy to re-use again and again.  The bags are also chemical-free, so no worries about those leachy toxins that can accumulate in your kids’ foods.

I used mine to tote baby snacks around (puffs, dried fruit, Cheerios) and also to take my own snacks with me in my purse (carrots and broccoli, cheese, nuts).  The bags were easily rinsed out when I was finished.  They’re even washable, which I haven’t done yet – but I anticipate I will after taking my messy PB&J with me to the office today.

In addition to snacks, the bags can replace a plastic baggie for any use – crayons, keeping a pacifier clean, or my 9 year old stepson’s favorite, toting around Legos.  There are prints available for boys and girls, and at $9 for the large size and $7 for the small, they are an affordable replacement for plastic baggies.
