Your Mama's Kid Loves Healthy Snacks

I’m sure you can all sympathize when I tell you that my 8 year old stepson is a picky eater.  It’s weird – he’ll mow down some sushi but won’t touch a hamburger.  Chicken nuggets/tenders are his only ‘go to’ and sometimes he’ll even refuse pizza.  It gets old.

Lost Boys: The Tribe movies Very old.

But like any other kid, Riley also loves to snack.  And like any other kid, he loves junk food – Cheetos?  Potato chips?  He’ll eat a bag full before he’ll touch even a hot dog.  Weirdo.

When Revolution Foods offered to let us try their new healthy chip-like snacks – Pop-Alongs – I was hesitant because Riley is usually resistant to trying new foods.  But one that looks and acts like a chip?  He just might be fooled . . .

I can support snack foods like these:

This is the boy's honest reaction.

Riley scarfed down the bag of cinnamon flavored chips first.  And when I say scarfed, I mean he inhaled the entire bag.  Later, when talking about how much he liked the Pop-Alongs, he told us that if he could by any snack in an entire store, he’d buy the cinnamon Pop-Alongs.  That’s a pretty strong vote coming from an 8 year old, I’d say.  He also really like the cheese and plain flavored chips.

Revolution Foods makes Pop-Alongs but they also have a really creative school lunch program that serves healthy meals to inner city schools.  They also make other lunchbox appropriate snacks and foods, like fruit, sandwiches, and peanut butter.

Boy A move

Unfortunately, Pop-Alongs and the other Revolution Foods products are not yet widely available, but you can find them at your local Whole Foods or unexpedtedly, Toys R’ Us.
