Our very first review was for Stonyfield Farms organic yogurt. I’m hugely obsessed with their Chocolate Underground flavor. But, as a good friend pointed out, they’re pretty high in sugar–not great for kids.
When it comes to nutrition, I’m not always the best at reading labels or making the best choices. But I read labels on the products I feed my infant. (For the record, I start to lose my label-reading-ninja-skills around age two.)
After shopping around, I choose Stonyfield Farms YoBaby brand with my first son. He’s been eating Stonyfield Farms yogurt and milk for the past three years. It will also be my yogurt of choice for my little guy once he graduates to yogurt. When Stonyfield Farms shared some YoBaby with me for this review, I let my three-year-old taste test it.
Thanks to the thick consistency, he was able to chow down on the whole thing with no spilling. He loved the taste, and I loved the low sugar content. (I didn’t tell him he’d been eating the same yogurt since he was six-months-old.)
We normally give my older son YoKids, but he didn’t notice the difference between that and YoBaby. (In fact, he asked me to come and scoop the last bits out of the carton for “one more bite!!!”)
Here are some fun facts about YoBaby:
- Contains no antibiotics, synthetic growth hormones, or pesticides.
- New packaging (a thinner lid) avoids extra waste.
- Contains 25% DV of Zinc and Vitamin D.
I try to make my own baby food whenever possibly, but that isn’t always easy. Baby yogurt makes a great supplement and I usually offer it every other day for breakfast or lunch. Since it needs to be kept refrigerated, it doesn’t make the best on-the-go snack, but beyond that I consider it to be a guilt-free easy way to sneak some variety and nutrition into my kid’s diet.

Their organic frozen yogurt looks SO good. I definitely plan to check that out when I can have dairy again. Drooool.
I’m not super strict about organic-only anything around here, except baby food. Like Maria, my label-reading has fallen by the wayside a bit for my almost-3-year-old. When it comes to my 7-month-old, any prepared foods I buy for her are organic. While I make most of her food, I find the organic baby oatmeal to be way too convenient to bother with making that myself.

We always buy organic milk and meats. We just don’t don’t like to fool around with those foods. Too many nasty practices with the conventional alternatives.

BOTH of my kids LIVE on this stuff! My daughter chugs a YoBaby peach smoothie for breakfast EVERY day, and my son gets a YoKids in his lunch every day. He tells me he likes it that the other kids call it his “fancy yogurt”.
Forgot to mention that the YoBaby plain yogurts were BOTH my kids’ first “solid” foods. (By solid I mean, anything other than breastmilk!)

Those 3 in 1 meals look really neat! I’ll have to remember that when DS is old enough. :)
I ONLY buy organic milk and especially organic soy milk. GMOs scare me – especially soy, corn and peanuts since the number of kids allergic to them is growing exponentially.

Interesting, thanks for that. My son has a total aversion to eating fruit for some reason, so I made the fruit into smoothies for him and then he loves it!
