[Let me interrupt this, my most exciting review ever, to let you all know that this is officially our 100th post at Your Mama! Go Mamas!]
I am seriously enthused about this review, so please excuse my blubbering, gushing, lavish praise. It’s just, well, I had this vision of leisurely waterfront bike rides with my new addition and my man – this idyllic, perfect vision that haunted me throughout my pregnancy. Tacky, lame, whatever. It’s just, well, we like to go on bike rides. Our first ‘date’ – just the two of us – was a bike ride out to the beach for a swim.
I searched high and low for a bike-along option for my little one. A trailer? A seat on the back or front? Decisions!
After reading many an Amazon.com review, I finally settled on the iBert Safe-T-Seat for my precious. And let me tell you: the reviews ring true. The iBert is the cutest and most shutter-inducing baby product we own. I think 80% of our photos in the past three months have been of Piper in the iBert.
I paid full price for this bike seat, and I am in no way being compensated for this review (ha! I wish!). I honestly really love it – and think it would make a fantastic summer gift for a baby shower or for a 1st birthday.
Things I love about the iBert:
- It’s easy to install and to move between our two bikes. We had to buy an extra ’stinger’ assembly but once they’re installed, the seat just pops onto that piece really easily.
- It’s well-balanced, and riding with it is not obtrusive.
- It doesn’t bump my knees.
- Piper is well supported on all sides.
- She’s got room to grow, so we’ll be using this throughout her toddler years.
- I love that she’s up front seeing what we’re seeing, rather than towing behind in an enclosed trailer.
- It pops on/off easily so we can throw it in the trunk when we take our bikes on the carrier for a ride farther from home.
The iBert installs easily on the stem of your bike – we both have beach cruisers and it fits perfectly. The hard plastic shell has a cute orange soft pad, and a snap-on bar in the front. We’ve taken some fairly lengthy bike rides with the iBert, and hardly notice it. We’re able to point out things to Piper and can see her when she (inevitably) falls asleep. We are absolutely enamored with this thing.
We started riding with Piper in it when she was 5 months old – as soon as she could sit stably by herself. IBert recommends 12 months as the minimum, but I couldn’t possibly wait. She is perfectly supported and stable in the seat – we use it all the time.
The iBert Bike Seat wasn’t available at any of my local stores, so we ordered it from Amazon.com for $84.99
(and free shipping with Amazon Prime of course). (Don’t forget to order a helmet for your little one, too – we went with the Giro Me2
and really, it’s freakin’ adorable.)
Free Stuff Alert Congratulations #148, Kim!

I just love that the iBert is made in the US. It is so hard to find kid’s toys/accoutrements that aren’t made in China.

Its for the ages f 4 and under and up to 38 lbs so thats alot of use for a family. The child has better view and i like that feature alot. And its safe. Great Contest. thanks lil_lolas@hotmail.com

I’ve always wanted these because you can actually see your baby while you’re riding, instead of cranking your neck around and taking your eyes off the road.
You can see them and interact with them, and they can see fun things too!

I like that the seat sits higher and is smooth on the bottom. So even if your knees hit the bottom of the seat, they just glide along the smooth edges on the bottom.
i learned that it doesn’t sit low so your knees won’t hit it when riding!
The nice thing is that you are always in control of the bike when loading and unloading your child.

I was interested in the height and weight restriction..this is what I found…
The safe-T-seat is designed for children age 4 and under. The minimum age is 12 months as the child needs to be able to sit up well and hold the weight of a helmet on his/her head. The maximum height of the child that can use the safe-T-seat is 42 inches. Kids much taller than that will be uncomfortable. The recommended max weight is 38 lbs. Above 38 lbs and the maneuverability of the bike may be affected.
I love the easy on and off feature of the seat. It is less likely to set off the hubby into a beep beep beep frenzy :)

OMG OMG OMG! This giveaway was made for me! You have no idea! I love bike riding but have since given it up because I am too paranoid about riding with my baby. My hubby who wants to start getting in shape started looking for a baby seat that would to on the front and this is the one we loved! I wanted this seat so badly so I can ride again. Unfortunately money is really tight so we can’t afford one right now. I can’t believe you are having a giveaway for it! I have to win this.
i like that you can always see your baby. i’ve been hesitant to get a bike seat because i thought they always go in the back.

I learned that the safe-T-seat is more than just a child carrier, it’s 6 years work of a mother and father who were disappointed with the family bicycling options available. Parents can come up with the best ideas!

this would be perfect for us! we live right by the beach and I have so been wanting something just like this. My daughter is 9 months old and I just know we would get tons of use out of it. I seriously love the photo gallery on the site. It shows it being used on so many different types of bikes and how cute the kids look in them. This has to be one of the best giveaways I have ever seen.
It took the creators six years to come up with this idea!

OK…I have 3 things that I learned from the website. The i-Bert was 6 years in the making by the couple who invented it after trying all sorts of other options. The seat accommodates children up to 4 yrs (42 in tall, 38 lbs). There are 3 stores in NJ that carry the i-Bert and 2 of them are very close to me! :) Very cool! Thanks!

I found it interesting that The patented stinger system attaches to your bike in just two minutes. The seat can then be attached to the stinger in 15 seconds. And taking off the seat is just as quick. Buy a second stinger assembly for your spouse’s bike and you can switch the seat between the two bikes in a matter of seconds.

Thank you, my husband and I love the look and description of this seat!
I love this seat and am hoping to buy one. I hope I win your giveaway because (I’m sure like everyone else) our budget is so tight due to the economy. I have this bike seat in my wish list on Amazon.com. I saw the seat this summer in a small town up in northern wisconsin. A woman was riding her bike with her child in the front. It was amazing to see (so different from the other kinds of children’s transports). I had to shout out to her! “Where’d you get that? What is it?” She shouted by iBert. I didn’t quite catch the name correctly so when I got home I had to google all sorts of words that sound like iBert! It’s quite funny what all came up! Eventually I found the right spelling (and sound) and visited the site. I kept thinking this was not going to work out for us since my son is 15 months old and may be too big for this cute seat. But one thing I learned from the site is that your child can be up to 42 inches and up to 38 lbs! Wow! That means if we do buy the seat we will get a lot of use out of it since we have a ways to go before our son will out grow it! Another great thing about the site are all the awesome photos. There is real enthusiasm for this seat. If I don’t win one here, I may have to just break down and buy one. It’s just one more way to enjoy life daily with our child! :) Thanks!!
I learned that it gives a better view than a trailer (which we’ve been using). It’d be nice to be able to see my baby and stop her if she tries to take her helmet off!
Wow – this seat is brilliant! I love iBert’s commitment to safety and sensitivity for the needs of children and their parents! And knowing this seat makes it possible to go for rides with two kids at once makes it extra appealing!!
I love that this seat is designed by parents and made in the USA!!

Thanks so much for this review! My husband and I have put off buying a trailer until our son is a little bigger. (So biking with a five month old worked for you… Hmmm…) We’ve been wondering about seats and buckets and what have you. This seems like a quite affordable option!
I learned from their website that the iBert seat has a better center of gravity than some other biking options. I’d definitely like to give it a try! Thanks.

I learned that you can install brackets on multiple bikes! My husband and I gave up biking when our son was small. He’s 3 and just learning to ride now, and we have another one on the way! So something like this would be perfect. Thanks for the giveaway!

The safe-T-seat is the most adaptable child carrier on the market today. It fits more bikes than any other front mounted seat. A minimum of 3/4 inch is needed on the handle bar stem to accommodate the stinger assembly.
