My three-year-old is a fairly picky eater. (And honestly, what three-year-old isn’t? If your preschooler eats adventurously, please send me tips. Seriously. I need them.)
Last month I contacted Peter Rabbit Organics, curious to find out more about their organic fruit puree pouches. What struck me immediately about Peter Organic were the following claims:
- Organic
- No added salt
- No added sugar
- Nothing artificial
They sent me three flavors for my son to try. When they arrived, I noted the cute packaging. It looks a little like a fruit juice pouch, with an inventive wide straw for sucking the fruit puree out.
Here are the ingredients of the Mango, Banana and Orange fruit puree he tried first:
Dude. I’ll take that over a fruit snack or juice any day.
The following video is a true account of his first experience with the fruit puree pouch.
I can’t even begin to explain my excitement over this product. I feel absolutely confident giving these to my son as a snack. I know that he isn’t getting anything artificial. I’m also happy to know that the products are produced in a nut free facility and are gluten free.
After his first try, my son had his other two fruit puree pouches in the car on road trips. He didn’t spill a drop of either, and only complained that he wanted more. The other two flavors were tried were Strawberry and Banana, and Apple and Grape.
Everything about Peter Rabbit Organics fruit puree pouches are a pro to me except availability. Right now you can only find them in select Whole Foods stores and online at Amazon.com. For an occasional snack, especially on the go (they don’t require refrigeration!) these are absolutely worth the price.

Shredded vegetables are a great way to sneak servings into your kids favoriate foods. Shred up vegetables such as carrots, squash and zuccini and mix them into pancake mix, muffins, scrambled eggs – even spaghetti! If they can’t see it, they won’t fight it.

I often hide fruits and veggies in homemade breas or treats like sweet potatoe bars, carrot bread or apple bread.
I just promise chocolate milk if my son finishes his veggies. It’s working for the moment. And, I have tried putting them in a muffin tin (have you seen muffin tin monday sites?). A cool blue muffin tin does wonders for making a meal more appealing.
I like to leave a plate of carrots sitting out in the open so all can see and are more tempted to grab to snack on instead of junk!
i usually added shredded veggies to my sons fruit muffins and always add a mix of pureed veggies to all of our sauces this way my husband & son never know that they are eating spinach, cauliflower, squash hehe i know i’m sneaky!

We use pureed veggies in different meals and I often cut up cooked veggies and sneak a few pieces in a quesadilla or grilled cheese. Sounds disgusting but my 1 year old doesn’t mind.
I like to sneak prunes into his yogurt — he thinks the brown looks “pretty”.
We make fruit smoothies and add spinach. You can’t even tell it’s in there and he LOVES them!
My kids are the ones who want a snack right before bed so I figure if they are that hungry, they’ll eat some fruit. Works more often than not.

I put veggies in everything! I put peas in mac and cheese and lots of different veggies in pastas. most of the time, my kids don’t even notice that they are there!

I sometimes have to get inventive and hide fruits or veggies in food. I made pancakes last night and mashed too-ripe bananas in the batter. I also hide veggies in foods when necessary too.
To get my picky daughter to eat more veggies, I chop them up small, put them in a casserole, and add LOTS of cheese!
I run a home daycare, I always have at least one picky eater. I add extra veggies to everything they eat and fruit. I put grated carrots, diced zucchini, in my spaghetti sauce. My kiddos would eat spaghetti 3 days a week, 2 days a week they want Mac and Cheese, which I usually serve with Peas stirred in and sometimes even Carrots.. they love it..
I have one picky fruit eater now.. I made jello with fruit in it, he will eat that also I freeze juices and make fruit pops, and have even tried mixing in Apple sauce in the juice and freezing it.. it wasn’t bad. The bigger kids love frozen grapes, they will eat them by the handfuls. (choking hazard for the little ones).

Make red sauce for pasta and hide lots of veggies in there! Especially mushrooms!
The only fruit my 4 yr old will eat is bananas. But put it in a blender and make a smoothie….he drinks it right up.

V8 Splash Low Sugar Fruit/Vegetable Juice is just about the only way I can get my 3yo to have anything with a vegetable in it.

Mix them in with other foods.
I have found that dips are the key to kids eating veggies. They don’t have to be high fat, either. Low fat dairy and hummus work very nicely.
My little guy is only 1-year old but I have a problem getting him to eat fruits and green veggies. I’ve found that mixing it with yogurt (like YoBaby or organic plain) helps him to tolerate it more. Funny thing is I have no problem getting him to eat orange veggies (sweet potatoes, carrots, squash).

I don’t get nearly enough fruit, so I put some orange juice in the blender with a handful of frozen strawberries and have that for breakfast. It’s refreshing and filling!

I slather creamed spinach on sandwiches instead of mayo. Strawberry, pineapple, and banana smoothies are also a big hit with my lo.

I add it in with foods they like or let them try different dips on them.
I finely chop or purée vegetables and and sneak them in as sauce over pasta for example.
Our son is almost 1, so right now I just blend in his veggies with fruits or yogurts and that seems to do the trick. Thanks! thebubbledies(at)gmail(dot)com

I sneak vegetables into her pasta salad or spaghetti sauce.
make smoothies, it tastes like a treat when it’s really nutritious.
I find that blending and whipping fruits and veggies helps them to eat more of them. Also, get creative with the mixtures. Who would have thought broccoli goes so well with strawberries?

Mix puree into cream of wheat cereal; it goes over pretty well.
My son LOVES veggies – just plain right out of the garden :)
The best way I get my kids to eat vegetables is by having a bowl of healthy dip surrounded by vegetables cut into easy to pick up and munch size. If they can dip it they will eat it!

i have to admit that i don’t have a problem getting my 10 month old to eat his fruits and veggies. however, i do have a problem finding quality items that i would be okay giving him. juices are the worst when it comes to sugar! so, stumbling across this blog and contest today makes me super happy!!! thanks!
I find it hard to get in extra servings of fruits and veggies, as my son is a very picky eater and seems to want the same things over and over again. I would love to try this product!
The best thing I have found so far is serve the fruits and veggies with some kind of dip ranch or cottage cheese
We make 100 percent fruit popsicles.
I have carrots and fresh fruit in the refrigerator for the kids to snack on.
My son loves fruits and veggies so it isn’t really hard to get him to eat them. I give him fruits and veggies as snacks. He gobbles them right up.

I am a hider! I will steam veggies until they are extra mushy and then I puree them and mix them into spaghetti sauce! It’s ALWAYS a big hit, especially with my two PICKY toddler boys! Who often want the leftovers for lunch, and even breakfast the next day! I hide fruit in “special” juice, which is really just a smoothie that they help me make… because they “made” it, they love to drink it!

Sometimes I shred carrots in our spaghetti. My kids devour fresh fruit, so getting them to eat that is not a problem.
My tip for getting extra servings of fruits and vegetables is to buy more of the fruits and vegetables that you like and munch on them as snacks during the day. This is a great giveaway and I really hope I win. Thanks.
My children all loved peanut butter so I began putting some on apples, bananas, celery. Each time make it just a bit less pb. I worked for me.
I grate squash and carrots into spaghetti sauce, no one even notices it’s in there!

I let my 3 yr old pick out a special “treat” in the produce aisle when we’re grocery shopping. She is much more eager to eat veggies & fruits she chooses herself. She also loves to pick & eat things from the garden…should have planted more!
