Whether you’re nursing or not, you’re probably familiar with the problems your high beams (erect nipples) can sometimes pose. You know, pointing at things for you? Making you look like a fembot? For me, its even worse when I’m nursing.
Most of my favorite nursing bras and camis do very little in the way of taming those bad girls for me. So when I’m heading out or going to a family function where I need to interact with, I dunno, my DAD, I need to keep my puppies decent.
Judy from A Mother’s Boutique
sent me the Dynabelly Molded Cup Nursing Bra to try out. While I loved the thought of sharing such a reasonably-priced nursing bra with our readers, I didn’t have high hopes for it.
As soon as I tried the bra on, I could tell it fit great. The molded cups offer some support and shaping without squishing my boobs too much. As a bonus, at least for me, the bra has no underwire. (Women with bigger breasts might not get enough support from this bra, but it comes in a DD so I’d be curious to hear from a more full figured mama.)
My favorite part of this bra is the super thin strap. I live in tank tops during the summer and I hate having to adjust my wardrobe for clunky, ugly bras. This bra looks great under tanks and under tee shirts thanks to the design and the slight padding. (No headlights!)
When it comes to nursing time, the bra loses a few points for me. It’s super easy to open, but the cup doesn’t fold away completely. While my nipple ends up fully exposed, some of the cup pushes against my son’s cheek. When I nurse in this bra, he has a tendency to fuss and try to chew on the bra. Compared to other bras I’ve used, it takes a little more effort and trickiness to clip the cups back to the straps. As a result, this is my “going somewhere” bra. If I’m going to be at home all day I stick to a cami or a sleep bra.
For $18, this bra is completely worth the investment in a great tee shirt bra. Just make sure you order the right size!

I’m not nursing yet but I have been doing some reading and here are some things I’ve learned so far. 1. Nursing pads are a must – from mid-pregnancy onwards! 2. A nursing cover is a good idea if you are out and about a lot with baby. Keeps things modest and keeps the creepy staring people to a minimum.
Yeah, there’s a lot more to know! One more reason I like your blog, it’s really informative for newbies like me!
I found that the disposible nursing pads worked better than the cotton ones! Thanks for the chance.
They actually have it in my size!!! Clothes pins to help me remember what size I had nursed on really helped. Just clip them on the side of your shirt that baby had just finished and its sooooooo easy to remember what side to go with @ 4am.

My nursing tip is to layer shirts instead of buying expensive nursing shirts! Pull the top shirt up and the undershirt down and you’re still completely covered!

Hmmm, a nursing tip. Consider wearing a nursing necklace to distract busy hands–my son likes to flap his arms while nursing, which have resulted in more than a few scraps and bruises for me =]

always remember to use your finger to break the suction before you remove your baby from the breast.
Make sure you get a proper latch right away and it will save you a lot of trouble. Nurses don’t know everything about nursing so make sure to see a lacatation consultant if you have any trouble

My nursing tip is to struggle through the first couple weeks, because it does hurt and you will want to quit! But after that it’s smooth sailing!
My nursing tip: Keep trying variations to see what works for you. This goes for “equipment” (bras, pillows, nursing covers) as well as positions. :)
I personally found that a blanket worked much better than an official nursing cover.

I’m pregnant with my first child now and I only know tips that I’ve read and from friends. But my friend says that the disposable nursing pads work better than the others. She also recommended nursing a year if possible. The one out of four that she nursed was her best baby and the healthiest.

My nursing tip would be to set a goal. I set a goal of 6 wks. There were several times where I just wanted to let my baby have bottle so I could sleep but I wanted to accomplish my goal. And the best part? After 6 weeks I realized how much easier it had become that I decided to set a new goal of 12 months (My son is 10 months now and it keeps getting better!!)

I don’t know if i have a tip, maybe more of a funny story! I nursed my daughter until she weaned herself (unfortunately, around 9 months!) but I always had a ton of milk. Like, could feed all of Africa kind of milk. When I slept, I used to have to cut up two of her infant diapers and put one on either side to sleep! Otherwise I’d leak and soak the bed! But, just FYI, they work great :) Thanks for the giveaway!

Always have a glass of water, the TV remote, and anything else you need within reach before you start nursing.
I would strongly recommend purchasing Lansinoh-Lanolin Breast Cream. I learned the hard way afer my nipples were distroyed.

my tip is don’t give a bottle until the baby is well established to the breast. i had to with my last two because they were preemies and have to be in the hospital for awhile after birth. i pumped for them but they never really took to the breast. i am pregnant with baby #4 right now, due in 4 weeks, and i hope all goes well with nursing this time.

Tip: Introduce a bottle if you ever wanna leave the baby! I have a 5 month old that won’t take a bottle and she is literally my right hand man;)

My nursing tip is to stick with it. I have too many friends who quit because it hurt the first few days. It gets better, after the initial shock to the breast things get much easier and you really never feel that discomfort again. And what a wonderful experience it is.
My nursing tip is to get a better nursing pillow then a boppy. My daughter and i were having a hard time nursing. I went to see a lactation consultant who said that my nipple wasn’t positioning in her mouth correctly because my boppy pillow was causing her to roll in towards me. We got a My Breast Friend pillow instead and Viola! problem instantly solved.
My nursing tip is “Don’t give up!” I had a very hard time in the beginning. My son wouldn’t open his mouth wide enough and we had a lot of latch issues. I may have had some crying moments but I was determined as heck! Well, now he is 14 months and nursing is a great, natural and easy experience for the both of us. I want to nurse him until at least 2 years old but I think we will both miss it! I would love to win this bra. Mine are getting worn!

My tip is to get a Boppy. It just seems to make things easier and allows you to have one hand free :).
I use a little bottle to catch the milk from the other breast when I’m nursing. I always catch at least 1/2 and ounce!

soft cup nursing bra
Nurse in a quiet, dark room- the baby will be more efficient!
If you have difficulty nursing look for help. It’s great for the baby and less expensive than formula.
Drink plenty of water and nurse on both sides for enhancing lactation. This helped me a lot when demand for milk was more when the baby was around six months.
Use nipple ointment, like the Lansonol stuff and nursing pads to absorb any leaking.
I don’t really have any tips…as I’m pregnant and have not yet had to nurse.
However, I have seen several women nursing in public and I have to say…please use a cover up. No one wants to stare at your boobs!
Don’t give up and drink lots of water!! Pumping will increase your supply!

Reusable cloth nursing pads are much softer and more effective than the disposables. In a pinch, a pantyliner works as a disposable.

GREAT blog, this is my first time here!
My nursing tip is to learn how to nurse your baby lying down as soon as you can. It makes night time nursing so much more manageable!!!
My tip- seek out support! Not just for those first few weeks that can be rough on every mama…but continue to do so throughout the years! I’m nursing my 3 year old and my 1 year old and there have been times where I just want to quit, but when I seek out support and advice, usually just simply hearing that other mom’s have been there AND come through it and kept nursing is enough to give me that extra little “push” to keep going!
If you are going back to work……you have to pump, pump, pump from day 1. This will build up your supply, don’t wait til the last minute to try it.
I won’t begin my nursing journey until early August when the baby arrives, but from what I’ve read in books, hydration and patience seem to be two keys to successful nursing!
A nursing tip would be to attach a safety pin to your shirt, so that you know which side the baby started with. You can switch it around for the other side too.
Thanks!
My nursing tip is to not be afraid to ask for help. Once I got some professional advice from a lactation consultant back at the hospital it made a world of difference!

my nursing tip is to keep cabbage leaves on hand for those persistent clogged ducts. Put a piece on your bump for 15 min and watch it disappear!
A tip for nursing in public is to wear a camisole or stretchy tank underneath your shirt. This way when you lift your shirt to nurse you can rest assured that your post-pregnancy belly isn’t hanging out all over the place. I loved nursing covers until my son was about 6 months old and could rip the thing off quicker than I could put it on!!
a nursing tip is to start giving a little Expressed breast milk in a bottle early on (within the first week or two) so that your baby gets used to it!

When breast feeding, always have a pump handy. That way, it’s not always necessary to nurse the baby on hand if you are on the go.

I nurse on demand instead of following a schedule, so my milk supply stays up, especially during her growth spurts.
I haven’t started nursing yet (fb due in Sept!) but I’ve heard to always use nursing cream on your nipples – before you think you need to so you Don’t need to!

my nursing tip is “don’t give up”. it is so easy in the first 6 or so weeks to just stop because it can get difficult–particularly if you don’t have a good support system.

My Nursing tip is to make sure that you have a good support group when you start out. I did not have the support that I needed (i.e. lactation consultant, Le Leche League, etc.) and it is something I regret since I did not learn where my daughter and I had problems until it was to late.

I am pregnant now but expecting in October. I am planning to breastfeed and have had alot of tips thrown at me. One tip I learned is that even though it might hurt or become sore to breastfeed keep going because it’s good for the baby. Thanks
Just when you think it’s too much, things will get easier and better.
Don’t give up easily. It takes time.
I am pregnant and expecting my first in Nov and I have heard of wearing a bracelet to keep up with which side you have nursed on most recently.

I’m a first time really new mom who is breastfeeding. My only comment so far is don’t give up! I have learned a lot from reading everyone’s comments. Thanks.
I haven’t been particularly successful, but I would tell other moms to express their wishes in the hospital regarding pacifiers and bottles. I was too shy and my babies got used to bottles.
Keep nursing. It gets hard sometimes, but it’s worth it!

Get help from the nurses in the hospital, or your midwife, to make sure you are off to a good start.
My tip is to save your money and forget buying pricey nursing tops. Bras are a must, or at least front closure ones. Buy v-neck tees and they easily pull down so you can nurse discreetly.
