AIO Showdown Week<br>Your Mama Isn't Sure About DryBees AIOs

Yeah that’s right.  I’m not sure about the DryBees AIO Hybrid Diaper.   I don’t feel like I can make an accurate judgment because well, this diaper didn’t fit my baby.  Really.  At all.   There were things I like about it, though, and I think if it fit her better, this would be a positive review.

I’m sad about this, but I want to be honest.  So let me preface this review with the reminder that according to the DryBees sizing guidelines, my daughter is the very small side of their medium, and the top-end of their small.  I tried a medium, and should’ve tried a small.  That said, I’ll have the diaper for a while (the medium should fit for a looooong time), so will get to test it thoroughly as she grows into it.

Look and Feel

While this isn’t a luxurious or especially ‘cute’ diaper, the DryBees AIO diaper Spider film looks nice and functional.  They come in 21 different solid colors, many of which I’d be happy to have.  I like solid colors for my diapers – especially when they have to go under cute outfits.  I like to color coordinate my daughter’s dresses with her diapers (not matchy-matchy, but you know, use the diaper to spice things up a bit).  They also make one of my favorite diapers in the AIO diaper market:  an AIO with lace sewn on the butt.  It kills me with cute.

TheThe DryBees AIO Hybrid is too big on my lil gal DryBees has a standard PUL outer, much like any other cover or AIO.  Soft and stretchy, nothing especially outstanding about it, but you know that it will hold the wetness and be comfortable for the baby.

The interior of the diaper is a polyester liner (very much like the BumGenius liner).  I know that this polyester layer helps wick the moisture so the baby doesn’t feel as wet.  That’s awesome for babies who complain at the wetness, and I especially like that in an overnight diaper.  I suspect that when she grows into it, I’ll be able to use this diaper (with a doubler stuffed in the pocket) as an overnight diaper – which is not something I feel safe doing with many of my AIOs.

They have a sewn-in soaker of 3-layer microfiber, plus a pocket for an extra doubler which you may or may not need.   They took a little longer in the dryer, but overall, I like this diaper for its simplicity – it truly is as easy as a disposable to wash and wear.

Fit

Here’s where I don’t feel qualified to make a judgment – the diaper I had was just too big.  The velcro tabs don’t have the ability to overlap, so I couldn’t pull it tight enough around her waist, but the leg gussets are where she was the most wet.  Some of the other diapers I tested this week leaked around the legs a bit as well, but this one was by far the worst.  I had to change many an outfit when she would wear the DryBees.  I chalk that up to the diaper being too big, because I have spoken with many CD mamas who are very happy with the DryBees.   I will give it a month or two and try it out again-  with hopes that she’s grown enough to fit into it properly.

See? It's to big for my baby.

But Does It Work?

The Conversation video

For me, no.  It didn’t.  It leaked like crazy.  Because it was too big.  So read this with that in mind.  It was easy to use, wash and wear – and I love that there was no stuffing inserts or losing inserts or pulling out soaked or poopy inserts required.  That alone is a boon for this diaper.  But the truth is that it didn’t work wonders for my daughter, and I won’t use it even around the house at this point – it just leaks that badly.
